Atlantic Draft Horse Futurity
The New Brunswick Percheron Association held the first annual “Atlantic Draft
Horse Futurity Auction” as part of our fall show this year and organizers were
very pleased with the turnout and interest for the first year of what we
intend to be an annual event. Prior to the Auction we had a brief
demonstration of the line, cart, and pattern classes of the competition to
show what the expectation would be in two years, as well as showing it could
actually be done with two year olds. We had a total of six weanling's who
went through the sale and are now eligible to return in two years and
compete for a share of the fund money, which to date will be at minimum
$4100.00 as the sponsorship is still coming in. Our thanks to Melanie Graham
and Matthew Hornbrook for showing their two year olds in the demonstration,
as well as Bev Folkins who was kind enough to be our Auctioneer, and John
Storey for presenting the weanling's and their pedigree’s.
For more information please check out the "Futurity" page. If you have any
questions feel free to contact the committee members listed on the "Futurity"
page or e-mail us at: futurity@nbpercheron.com

Hello everyone;
Just a little note to let everyone know about a bus tour that is in the early planning
stages for the 2008 World Percheron Congress to be held in Toronto, July 22 to July
26, 2008. We are trying to get a group together to make it worthwhile and
enjoyable for everyone. A minimum number of 40 people, with a maximum of 54 are
required in order to make it feesable. If you are at all interested in this trip, please
contact me so that your name can be put on the list as once our numbers are
reached, they will require a deposit.
As it stands right now they will provide the trip to Toronto, the hotel
accommodations which is to include a continental breakfast, and all trips to and
from the fair grounds in the price. We are responsible for our meals, passes to get
in and any extras that we may desire. The price based on 2 people per room will be
$125.00 per day, per person from the day we leave until the day we return, and
$100.00 per day per person based on 4 people per room. The hotel is a 4 star hotel
not far from the Ex grounds.
They are also willing to have set pick up destinations along the way ie in Moncton,
Sussex or Fredericton, provided they are close to the highway and easily accessible.
As of right now I am trying to get a deal on the week passes, but have yet to get
info back. If you are interested or would like more info please contact me at
902-661-1766 or at windyridgepercherons@hotmail.com. We are anticipating a quick
response so please let me know asap if you have interest in taking part. As it stands
right now we would be leaving early Monday morning for Toronto and heading for
home early Sunday morning, so in all we would be gone 7 days. We are trying to get
an idea if there would be enough interest in leaving on Sunday morning and
spending Monday touring the Amish communities before heading to the congress
which starts Tuesday, adding 1 extra day to the cost???
Looking forward to hearing from you;
Kim Bacon
This is open to anyone who is interested in participating, not just 'horsie' people!!
So please pass the word along!!!
